This role is responsible for Planning and conducting job site safety inspections to identify hazards in the workplace per OSHA rules and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Documents findings and submits job-site inspection reports to the applicable Superintendent, Foreman, Safety Manager and Manager of Human Resources. Inspection items included are: Hazard analysis to identify areas of potential risk to employees and advise the Foreman (such as open unmarked trenches, unsafe acts by other trades, etc.).
• Monitors tools/ equipment condition and use, ie: fire extinguishers, ladders, power tools.
• Ensures job site foremen are enforcing the company Code of Safe Practices, IIPP and issues discipline notices for violations.
• Implements the company Safety Incentive Program.
• Conducts monthly safety walks of company Fab Yard, warehouse and office buildings.
• Issues PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as needed.
• Conducts and or manages all training relevant to safety issues including but not limited to; OSHA required courses, First Aid/ CPR, new hire safety training, fire extinguisher certification, forklift certification and DOT training, and any other safety relates courses and classes.
• Assist with meetings regarding safety issues, inspections, contacts with other companies, or regulatory agencies.
• Submits required permits with regulatory agencies as needed and as required by law.
• Conducts investigations of all injuries and accidents. Analyzes work-related hazards and injury rates to determine root cause and target procedural, instructional, or equipment changes to prevent a recurrence.
• Reports on the prior month's safety issues.
• Updates and reviews job site tailgate logs to make sure they are up to date and complete.
• Maintains all safety-related files, documentation, and reports, including but not limited to training records, accident documentation and safety inspection reports.
• The Safety Inspector ensures the timely reporting of all Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, monthly vehicle inspection reports and auto claims to the corporate office.
• Due to the nature of the Safety Inspector position, it may be required to respond to incidents outside of the “normal" work hours or perform training on Saturdays as needed.
• Researches and updates all safety publications including but not limited to the Safety Manual, IIPP, Code of Safe Practices, tailgate talks and the MSDS in accordance with State and Federal Regulatory agencies. These publications may also need additional updates as information and data change.

JobRequirements Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum of three years Safety experience in a Construction Environment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Current OSHA Construction 10-Hour and 30-Hour certification.
• Knowledge of applicable OSHA requirements as it relates to a Safety Inspector.
• Demonstrated competency in these areas: first aid and CPR, trenching and excavation, scaffolding safety, construction site inspections and Forklift Safety at a minimum
• Demonstrated success in managing site safety and insurance risks, interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate both written and oral, and leadership.
• Proven staff training abilities on safety issues as well as company policies, processes and quality.
• Computer literate in the following Microsoft Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and must have excellent communication skills written and verbal
