Job description

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Applications Architect Consultant to lead the architecture, modernization, and governance of enterprise applications across a diverse technology portfolio. This role is responsible for designing scalable, secure, resilient, and integrated application solutions while partnering with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to deliver highly available, high-performing enterprise platforms. The architect will collaborate with business and technology leaders to define enterprise architecture standards, guide modernization initiatives, and align technology solutions with business strategy.

The selected candidate will be expected to work in the office four days per week for the first few months. After they have successfully transitioned into the role and are consistently meeting performance expectations, they may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week.
Initial interviews will be held via Microsoft Teams, with second-round interviews held in person.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define enterprise application architecture, standards, and roadmaps for modern, scalable, and secure business applications.
  • Design distributed, cloud-native, and event-driven solutions using microservices, APIs, messaging, and AI-enabled services.
  • Architect enterprise integrations across internal, third-party, SaaS, and cloud platforms.
  • Lead application modernization, cloud adoption, and migration strategies for legacy systems.
  • Define application scalability, resiliency, performance, and disaster recovery requirements for mission-critical systems.
  • Establish architecture governance, design reviews, and technical standards across engineering teams and vendors.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to design secure cloud platforms, networking, identity management, and operational readiness.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective technology solutions.

Required Qualifications
Experience
  • 10+ years of enterprise application, solution, or systems architecture experience.
  • 5+ years architecting enterprise solutions on Microsoft Azure, with familiarity across AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proven experience designing highly available, secure, and scalable enterprise applications supporting 24x7 operations.

Enterprise Application Architecture
  • Enterprise application architecture, modernization, and integration strategies.
  • Distributed systems, microservices, domain-driven design, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and event-driven architectures.
  • API-first design (REST, gRPC), messaging platforms, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Application architecture using .NET (.NET Core/.NET 6+), Angular, Java (Spring Boot), Python, and modern web technologies.
  • AI-enabled application architecture using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Services, or similar platforms, including RAG and LLM orchestration frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent.
  • Experience designing enterprise CI/CD and DevSecOps architectures using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms, including automated testing, deployment, security scanning, and release governance.

Cloud, Infrastructure & Security
  • Microsoft Azure architecture including App Services, AKS, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Service Bus, Azure Monitor/Application Insights, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of AWS and Google Cloud architecture.
  • Enterprise networking fundamentals, secure application deployment, LAN/WAN/DMZ segmentation, and multi-tier architecture.
  • Identity and Access Management (Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, Okta, ForgeRock, SiteMinder, or similar), including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, SSO, and federated identity.
  • High availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, capacity planning, observability, and performance optimization.

Leadership
  • Experience establishing architecture governance, technology standards, and design review processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management with the ability to translate business strategy into enterprise technology solutions.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineering teams and drive architecture best practices across cross-functional organizations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert, TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect, or Google Professional Cloud Architect certifications.
  • Experience with platform engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), FinOps, and enterprise observability.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust security, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with legacy modernization, cloud migration, and regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, and enterprise software delivery practices.
