Join Our Team as a Buyer within IAB at Epiroc!
Epiroc manufactures attachment tools for the construction, agriculture, and rental industries. As a Buyer, you will play a vital role in procuring a wide variety of commodities essential to our manufacturing operations, including castings, forgings, steel, hydraulics, seals, fasteners, and electrical components. You will manage the end-to-end procurement process to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing, collaborating closely with suppliers, production planning, receiving, and accounts payable to resolve supply issues and maintain optimal inventory levels. Your attention to detail and follow-through will help support a high-functioning procurement team.
Work Type (Onsite): This position will be based onsite at our Dexter, MI facility. This job opening is not eligible for immigration/work visa sponsorship
Responsibilities:
Inventory Ordering & Planning
  • Analyze production schedules to determine appropriate order quantities and timing.
  • Manage orders for high-activity SKUs based on production demand and supplier lead times.
  • Review and adjust safety stock levels monthly using material transaction data and QlikView usage reports.
  • Support product launches and inventory transitions to avoid stockouts or excess stock.

Supplier Coordination & Order Management
  • Manage separation of orders based on supplier requirements (e.g., Delhi from Manchester, cut steel vs. long steel, kanban vs. discrete items, Dexter to Delhi etc).
  • Align due dates with supplier delivery schedules.
  • Obtain and review purchase order acknowledgments, matching quantities, costs, and dates to PO lines.
  • Update order confirmations for ship dates and split shipments; track container deliveries.
  • Follow up daily on past due orders and missed receipts via packing slips or direct supplier contact.
  • Expedite orders when necessary to meet production demands.
  • Update open order lines after price approvals and revisions.
  • Reconcile purchase orders and invoices in Concur or similar systems.

Forecasting & Inventory Control
  • Provide forecasts to suppliers per their requests and review forecast accuracy monthly.
  • Compare forecast data to historical usage to identify trends and anomalies.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, stockouts, and missed receipts to determine root causes.

Kanban & Outside Processing
  • Manage kanban renewals and manual releases.
  • Place orders for outside processing services such as plating, balancing, and heat treating.
  • Monitor and close production scheduling line (PPSL) issues once resolved.

Returns & Quality Control
  • Coordinate return goods authorizations (RGA/RMA) and warranty returns, ensuring proper matching to original purchase orders and follow-up until closure.

Daily Operational Tasks
  • Monitor and respond to POs without acknowledgments and general supplier emails, obtaining confirmations promptly.
  • Match PO confirmations from suppliers to PO lines including quantities, costs, and delivery dates.
  • Conduct daily follow-up on late purchase orders and expedite as required.
  • Perform price updates, Excel data work, and general data entry tasks as assigned.
  • Complete initial buying functions for specific planner codes (e.g., decals, hardware).
  • Support other ad-hoc tasks assigned by buyers or procurement management.

Communication & Cross-Functional Liaison
  • Act as first point of contact for supplier discrepancies and issues.
  • Facilitate communication between scheduling, production, receiving, suppliers, strategic buyers, and accounts payable.

Knowledge/Education:
  • Proven experience in procurement, supply chain, or inventory control within manufacturing or related industries.
  • Familiarity with commodities including castings, forgings, steel, hydraulic components, seals, fasteners, and electrical parts is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.
  • Experience with forecasting and reporting tools such as QlikView or similar.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective supplier and internal collaboration.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Detail-oriented with strong accuracy in data entry and order management.
  • Ability to multitask and follow up consistently under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of kanban systems and outside processing coordination preferred.
