Job description

Summary: LBM Advantage is seeking a Department Manager to lead our Forest Products team in our Conroe, TX office. The ideal candidate is a proven leader in the building materials or commodity space who possesses a customer- first mindset and a track record of driving collaborative team success. In this role, you’ll drive sales growth, manage budgets and P&Ls, lead a team of Traders and also manage a portfolio of accounts directly. You’ll build strong relationships with members and vendors, identify new business opportunities, and implement strategies to expand market presence. 

Essential functions:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Forest Products Traders and sales support staff
  • Develop and execute sales and business strategies
  • Manage budgets, P&L, and departmental performance
  • Maintain relationships with members and vendors
  • Handle assigned accounts directly, as needed.
  • Provide the highest level of support and service to the LBM Advantage members
  • Work closely with other Forest Products Managers to ensure alignment, collaboration, and consistent execution of the division's overall mission and goals.
  • Travel as needed for member/vendor visits, trade shows, and regional meetings

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position oversees a team of seven employees, including both in-office and remote staff

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full-time, in office, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours/week)

Work Environment:

  • Professional office environment with standard equipment (computers, phones, copiers, etc.).

Physical Demands:

  • Primarily sedentary; regular verbal communication required

Travel:

  • Primarily local; some overnight and out-of-area travel required

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in lumber wholesale, building materials sales, or commodity trading
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience
  • Strong business acumen and relationship building skills
  • Results-driven, strategic thinker with excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • College degree
