Summary
The Forerunner works directly with the Head Route Setter to test and provide feedback on newly set routes and boulders. They evaluate the quality, flow, and safety of climbs and help ensure the gym delivers a well-balanced and inclusive climbing experience.
Responsibilities
  • Forerun assigned routes and boulders weekly
  • Provide detailed feedback on difficulty, quality, and risk assessment
  • Communicate observations and suggestions to the Head Setter
  • Adhere to all safety protocols of the setting team
  • Refrain from using power tools unless otherwise trained and approved

Requirements
  • Flexible schedule with some morning and afternoon availability
  • 3+ years of climbing experience
  • Ability to climb assigned grades (generally V7-V12)
  • Friendly, professional, and detail-oriented demeanor
  • Comfortable at heights (14 ft boulders, 40+ ft ropes)
