Job description

Shape the next generation of cybersecurity and digital forensics professionals at Champlain College! We're seeking a dynamic faculty member to join our Division of Information Technology & Sciences (ITS Division), teaching cutting-edge courses in both our Computer Networking & Cybersecurity and Computer & Digital Forensics programs. This position will begin teaching in Spring 2026 or Fall 2026.

You'll deliver hands-on, industry-aligned education at the intersection of defensive security and investigative forensics in areas such as Computer and Network Security, Digital Forensic Analysis, System Administration, and Incident Response. Our small class sizes foster meaningful instructor-student interactions, while our state-of-the-art labs and real-world scenarios translate theory into practice.ย

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Curriculum Development

  • Deliver four courses per semester through traditional courses, experiential learning opportunities, and supervised student projects
  • Develop cutting-edge curriculum reflecting current threat landscapes, forensic techniques, and industry best practices
  • Design and maintain hands-on labs using industry-standard tools and platforms
  • Integrate real-world case studies and incident scenarios into course content

Student Mentorship & Development

  • Provide academic advising to undergraduate students pursuing cybersecurity and digital forensics careers
  • Supervise student teams, projects, and cybersecurity clubs
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse learning styles
  • Support student engagement with the renown Leahy Center for Digital Forensics & Cybersecurity
  • Guide students in developing industry-relevant skills and professional practices

Professional Engagement & Service

  • Maintain expertise in evolving cybersecurity threats and investigative techniques through ongoing professional development
  • Participate in industry outreach to inform curriculum and create opportunities for students
  • Serve on college committees and participate in institutional governance
  • Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities
  • Contribute to program assessment and represent the college at industry conferences and professional events

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Computer Science with security focus, or a closely related discipline required (consideration given to bachelor's degree with significant industry accomplishments)
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, or related fields
  • Demonstrated expertise in areas such as network security, forensic analysis, malware analysis, incident response, or security operations
  • Prior teaching experience at the college level preferred
  • Experience with industry-standard tools and platformsย 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective student mentoring

Working Arrangements:

  • Full-time, in-person position based at our main campus in Burlington, Vermont
  • Comfortable office environment with access to computing labs and resources
  • Occasional evening or weekend commitments for special events or student activities
  • Participation in faculty meetings, professional development, and academic ceremonies

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: $80,000 - $95,000
