Job description

Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Managing Partner of the Judicial Foreclosure and Title Clearance Department - South
  • Work alongside attorneys and support staff in the New Orleans, Louisiana office
  • Carry and independently manage a caseload and portfolio of client files
  • Review judicial foreclosure documentation for compliance with state and federal law
  • Interpret loan documents to identify missing items and issues
  • Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, team members, clerks, judges, borrowers, and defense attorneys
  • Review title reports within 24โ€“48 hours, identify title issues, and recommend cures
  • Cure simple and complex title issues
  • Review title examinations, pleadings, loan documents, and foreclosure documents
  • Evaluate files, provide legal opinions, and rectify file-level issues
  • Create, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, and foreclosure/title-clearance documents
  • Collaborate with attorneys and other departments and promote interdepartmental cooperation
  • Exercise professionalism during adversarial conversations and situations
  • Apply independent judgment to legal and compliance issues
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and team members
  • Delegate, follow up on, and monitor tasks to completion
  • Conduct trainings or attend industry events occasionally
  • Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice law in Louisiana
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an attorney / Associate
  • Experience in real estate law and title review/clearance required
  • 2 years of related real estate, title, and/or financial services experience
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Membership and good standing with the Louisiana State Bar
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws
  • Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations
  • Ability to navigate local and Louisiana jurisdictional requirements
  • High-level proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Proficiency in internet research activities
  • Familiarity with case and document management software
  • Good understanding of law firm policies and procedures
  • Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organizational, multitasking, time-management, adaptability, and customer-service abilities
  • Ability to travel occasionally for trainings or industry events
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future; no employment or immigration sponsorship available
