We are seeking Actuaries at Pacific Guardian Life to act as subject matter experts working closely with members of the corporate actuarial team, as well as business line actuaries and other departments. This position combines advanced and creative actuarial knowledge with sound business judgment, based on experience. The Actuary must be able to drive decisions based on actuarial analysis, forecasting and best practices to ensure stable earnings, maximize growth and achieve acceptable risk adjusted returns, all under the umbrella of a comprehensive risk management framework. This position may be performed remotely or in person at our office, depending on the needs of the business and the selected candidate.

What You’ll Do
  • Assure quality data management including review, construction, maintenance and development of reports and methodologies to check for completeness and accuracy.
  • Work with other departments to obtain, maintain, and improve systems to provide reliable data.
  • Assist the Appointed Actuary by providing data and creating or revising systems to support data needs.
  • Provide interpretive and implementation advice to the Chief Actuary/Chief Risk Officer.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of actuarial standards, best practices and evolving issues. Maintain a clear understanding of how each impacts the business of PGL.
  • Maintain and improve technical competence by reading professional literature pertaining to actuarial field and by attending actuarial related events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, actuarial science, business or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • ASA or FSA designation preferred but not required with demonstration of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in and interpreting GGY Axis output.
  • Ten (10) years of professional actuarial work experience in annuities or life insurance.
Must meet 1 of the following requirements below:
  • Japanese Economic Solvency: At least 5 years of experience in full cycle implementation of solvency 2 or economic value.
  • Reinsurance modeling: At least 5 years of experience in corporate modeling and reinsurance with preference for Bermuda related experience.
  • Axis Modeling: At least 5 years of experience modeling annuities. Experience in building and reporting from AXIS models.
  • GAAP: At least 5 years of experience in full cycle implementation of GAAP.
  • ERM/ALM: At least 5 years of experience creating and managing a full enterprise risk management framework.
  • Strong data management skills.Ability to react to change productively. Must be able to handle multiple tasks that have sensitive completion dates and times.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines and maintain a high degree of judgment, especially when working with information that is confidential in nature.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consultation and clarification on actuarial models and risk issues, and influences management towards courses of action that have a potentially sizeable impact on products, markets, underwriting, pricing, risk management, and profitability.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain credibility and strong rapport across the actuarial team and with key partners.
What We’re Looking For
