Position Overview
The Ultra Capacitor Modules (UCMs) are critical components of Ford's next-generation low-voltage power networks, enabling rapid energy storage, peak power shaving, start-stop support, and power network stabilization.
As the UCM Core SW Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end elicitation, definition, and management of system and software requirements for the UCM. You will serve as the technical bridge between vehicle-level feature owners, functional safety teams, hardware designers, and Tier 1 suppliers to ensure the module meets Ford's rigorous performance, safety, and quality standards.

  • Support Key UCM Functions: Establish requirements for core module features, including cell balancing, State of Charge (SoC), State of Health (SoH), thermal management, and power electronics control algorithms.
  • Manage Supplier Integration: Work closely with Full-Service Suppliers (FSS) to explain requirements, review technical proposals, manage the Statement of Work (SOW)/RFQ packages, and control requirement change-management.
  • Drive Functional Safety & Cyber Security: Collaborate with safety specialists to implement ISO 26262 requirements, including Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), Functional Safety Requirements (FSR), and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR).
  • Manage Network & Diagnostic Interfaces: Manage communication (CAN, LIN), and diagnostic (UDS) interfaces for the UCM.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Reviews: Conduct software design and requirement reviews with interfacing Ford activities, Module Hardware, Power Net Controls, and supplier engineering.
  • Support Validation & Testing: Align subsystem-level validation plans and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, with the defined requirements to ensure complete coverage.
  • Agile Collaboration: Facilitate effective collaboration between JIRA Saga owners, product owners, and supplier software teams to ensure efficient and timely software delivery across programs.
