Union Ford Diesel Mechanic
Rush Truck Centers is seeking motivated and skilled Union Ford Service Technicians to join our service team. In this
role, technicians work under the guidance and supervision of a Lead Technician or Journeyman Mechanic while developing
the skills necessary to become a certified Journeyman. Technicians will diagnose, maintain, and repair Ford vehicles and
related systems using advanced diagnostic equipment, specialized tools, and manufacturer-supported training programs.
As part of a collaborative and safety-focused environment, technicians are provided with ongoing opportunities for
professional development and career advancement within the organization.
Key Responsibilites
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gasoline-powered engines, as well as related mechanical, electrical,
    and electronic systems.
  • Perform repairs, inspections, preventive maintenance, and service procedures in accordance with Ford and
    manufacturer specifications.
  • Accurately diagnose and repair vehicle systems, including:
    • Fuel systems
    • Cooling systems
    • Air intake systems
    • Exhaust systems
    • Emissions and after-treatment systems
  • Utilize Ford diagnostic software, scan tools, and service information to efficiently identify and resolve vehicle
    concerns.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure repairs meet manufacturer standards and vehicles are safe for
    operation.
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and communicate findings with service advisors and management.
  • Adhere to dealership safety standards, union work practices, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians and service personnel to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform work typically assigned to a Journeyman Mechanic while progressing through the apprenticeship and
    certification process.

Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Successful completion of an accredited automotive or diesel technology program.
  • Ford Accelerated Credential Training (FACT) certification.
  • Ford Service Technician Specialty Training (STST) certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Ford OEM mechanical repair experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems.

Preferred
  • ASE certifications and/or manufacturer-specific certifications.
  • Experience in a Ford dealership environment.
  • Experience with heavy-duty, commercial vehicle, fleet, or truck repairs.
  • Candidates actively pursuing ASE certification are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency utilizing computerized diagnostic equipment and repair software.
