Reports to: Youth Program Director
Summary
The acac Youth Football Coach is responsible for leading and developing a recreational youth football team within a fun, inclusive, and educational environment. This role requires the planning and instruction of age-appropriate football fundamentals, the fostering of good sportsmanship, and ensuring a safe and positive athletic experience for all players.
Essential functions

  • Create and maintain a safe and encouraging team environment for all players.
  • Teach age-appropriate football skills, drills, and game strategies for participants aged 5-14.
  • Promote teamwork, fair play, and character development in all interactions.
  • Ensure equal playing time and participation for all team members.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with parents and guardians regarding schedules, cancellations, and expectations.
  • Serve as a positive role model for players, demonstrating respectful behavior toward referees, opponents, and fellow coaches.
  • Collaborate with acac staff and other coaches to ensure consistent application of league rules and values.

Requirements
Physical demands
  • Must be physically active, including running, throwing, catching, and lifting equipment up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, squat, and perform physical activities for extended periods.
  • Capable of engaging directly in youth sports drills and game-day activities.
  • Working Conditions
  • Outdoor recreational field settings.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, heat, rain, and wind.
  • Regular public contact with players, families, and community members.

Proposed schedule
  • The season begins the week of August 31st with practices being held 1 day per week on either Tuesdays or Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (exact day/time TBD)
  • Games will be held from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM on September 12th, September 19th, September 26th, October 3rd, October 10th, October 17th
  • Playoffs will be held on October 24th

Required competencies, education, and experience
  • Basic knowledge of football rules and techniques.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability in working with children in a team setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
