This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on laboratory work, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are committed to producing accurate, high-quality analytical results while maintaining compliance with state regulations and laboratory quality standards.Laboratory Technicians play a critical role in preparing cannabis samples, maintaining laboratory documentation, supporting analytical testing, and ensuring the integrity of all laboratory operations. Successful candidates demonstrate excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow established procedures while working efficiently in a collaborative laboratory environment.ResponsibilitiesPerform laboratory activities safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining quality standards and turnaround times.Prepare cannabis and cannabis product samples for analytical testing following approved laboratory procedures.Accurately weigh, measure, document, and track cannabis samples throughout laboratory workflows.Maintain complete and accurate laboratory documentation using Good Documentation Practices (GDP).Utilize Microsoft Office, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and other laboratory software for data entry and documentation.Perform non-analytical laboratory testing, including moisture content, water activity, foreign material inspection, and sample intake as assigned.Prepare laboratory reagents, solutions, and consumables while maintaining appropriate documentation.Perform daily instrument checks, routine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.Assist Laboratory Chemists and Microbiologists with sample preparation, instrument loading, data review, and laboratory workflows.Participate in equipment qualifications, method validations, verifications, and proficiency testing as assigned.Maintain laboratory inventory of reagents, supplies, and consumables.Follow all laboratory safety procedures, quality systems, SOPs, and applicable Maryland cannabis regulations.Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces.Cross-train in additional laboratory functions as assigned, including cannabis sampling and transportation when needed.Perform additional duties as assigned by laboratory management.QualificationsRequiredMust be at least 21 years of age.High school diploma or equivalent.Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Ability to comply with all Maryland cannabis employment requirements.One of the following:Two (2) years of relevant laboratory experience; orOne (1) year of laboratory experience plus successful completion of a laboratory skills assessment.Current Laboratory Assistants may qualify through demonstrated proficiency and successful completion of a skills assessment at the discretion of laboratory management.PreferredAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or another laboratory-related field.Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment (ISO 17025, GLP, GMP, pharmaceutical, environmental, food testing, or cannabis testing).Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Working ConditionsThis position is performed in a laboratory environment and may include:Frequent interruptions and changing priorities.Video and audio surveillance within secured laboratory areas.Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Exposure to laboratory chemicals, cannabis plant material, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment, and moderate laboratory noise.Physical RequirementsThe employee must be able to:Frequently stand, walk, sit, reach, use hands and fingers, communicate, and operate laboratory equipment.Occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Lift and move up to 40 pounds.Possess close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Maintain concentration while performing repetitive, detail-oriented laboratory tasks.ScheduleFull-TimeTuesday-Saturday9:00 AM-5:00 PMCompensation & BenefitsPay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour, based on experienceBenefits include:Health InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsurancePaid Time Off
