Treasure Coast Food Bank is growing - and so is the reach of our nutrition education programs! We are adding an additional Registered Dietitian / Senior Nutrition Educator to our team! The Registered Dietitian / Senior Nutrition Educator plays a key role in advancing Treasure Coast Food Bank’s commitment to improving food security, nutrition, and overall health throughout the communities we serve. This position develops and delivers practical, culturally responsive nutrition education designed to help individuals and families make informed, healthy food choices while maximizing the resources available to them.

Working throughout the community, the Registered Dietitian builds relationships with partner agencies, healthcare organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders to expand access to nutrition education and healthy food initiatives. This position develops educational materials and recipes, facilitates nutrition presentations and cooking demonstrations, supports healthy food initiatives throughout the Food Bank network, and uses program data and community feedback to strengthen and expand nutrition programming.

What will you do as Treasure Coast Food Bank's Registered Dietitian/Senior Nutrition Educator?

As Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Registered Dietitian / Senior Nutrition Educator, you will bring nutrition education directly into the communities we serve. You will develop and facilitate engaging nutrition education programs, cooking demonstrations, presentations, and resources that make healthy eating practical, affordable, and accessible.

You will build relationships with community partners, identify opportunities to expand nutrition programming, and help integrate nutrition and health strategies throughout Treasure Coast Food Bank’s programs and partner network. You will also track program outcomes, analyze participation and feedback, and contribute to continuous program improvement. Through a combination of nutrition expertise, creativity, education, and community engagement, you will help neighbors build the knowledge and confidence needed to make healthy choices for themselves and their families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Nutrition Education & Program Delivery

• Develop, implement, and facilitate evidence-based nutrition education programs at Treasure Coast Food Bank program sites, partner agencies, healthcare partner locations, and community settings.
• Provide engaging nutrition and health education to individuals and groups representing diverse ages, cultures, backgrounds, and levels of nutrition knowledge.
• Facilitate cooking demonstrations, nutrition workshops, presentations, and other interactive educational activities.
• Adapt nutrition education strategies and materials to address the needs, resources, cultures, and barriers of the populations being served.
• Support nutrition programming for children and families, older adults, and other populations served through Food Bank programs.
• Promote practical strategies for healthy eating, food preparation, food safety, meal planning, and making nutritious choices on a limited budget.

Nutrition Resources & Recipe Development

• Develop nutritious, affordable, practical, and culturally appropriate recipes using foods commonly available through Treasure Coast Food Bank and its partner network.
• Create and update nutrition education materials, recipes, handouts, presentations, cooking demonstrations, videos, and other resources for community distribution.
• Collaborate with the Nutrition Education and Programs teams to develop and distribute nutrition messaging, healthy-choice materials, and other educational resources.
• Help ensure nutrition information distributed by Treasure Coast Food Bank is accurate, evidence-based, accessible, and consistent with current nutrition guidance.

Community Outreach & Partnerships

• Build and strengthen relationships with partner agencies, healthcare organizations, community organizations, and other stakeholders to expand nutrition education opportunities.
• Identify prospective community partners and opportunities to increase the reach and impact of Treasure Coast Food Bank’s nutrition programming.
• Assist with identifying, developing, and training community partners capable of supporting nutrition education initiatives.
• Serve as a nutrition resource and liaison for partner agencies and community organizations.
• Represent Treasure Coast Food Bank through community presentations, outreach events, workshops, demonstrations, and other public-facing activities.
• Promote Treasure Coast Food Bank’s mission and nutrition strategies while strengthening awareness of the connection between food security, nutrition, and health.

Healthy Food Initiatives

• Collaborate with Programs and other departments to incorporate nutrition education and healthy-choice strategies throughout Treasure Coast Food Bank programs.
• Support the development and implementation of sustainable healthy food policies, practices, and nutrition-focused initiatives.
• Provide nutrition expertise to support Food Bank programs, partner agencies, and community initiatives as appropriate.
• Identify opportunities to improve access to nutritious foods and strengthen the connection between hunger relief and improved health outcomes.

Program Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain accurate and timely records of nutrition education activities, participation, outcomes, and other required program data.
• Utilize internal databases and reporting systems to track statistical information related to nutrition programs.
• Collect and evaluate participant and partner feedback to identify opportunities for program improvement.
• Monitor program deliverables and assist with preparation of reports for leadership, funders, and community partners as required.
• Participate in program evaluation, continuous improvement, and strategic planning efforts.
• Maintain organized documentation and ensure assigned program deliverables are completed accurately and on time.

Team & Mission Support

• Collaborate with the Nutrition Education, Programs, and other Food Bank teams to support organizational initiatives.
• Cross-train and provide support in other areas of the Programs Department as needed.
• Assist with special projects, community events, and organizational initiatives.
• Maintain a professional, welcoming, compassionate, and helpful attitude when interacting with neighbors, partners, volunteers, and coworkers.
• Uphold Treasure Coast Food Bank policies and best practices related to food safety, confidentiality, professionalism, and community service.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of Treasure Coast Food Bank’s mission and organizational goals.

A successful Registered Dietitian / Senior Nutrition Educator combines professional nutrition expertise with a genuine ability to connect with people. Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutrition Science, or a related field from an accredited institution required.
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN/RD) credential required.
• Appropriate Florida licensure as required to practice dietetics and nutrition in the State of Florida.
• Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience preferred.
• Experience providing community-based nutrition education strongly preferred.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing food insecurity or with low-income and culturally diverse populations preferred.
• Experience working with children and families, older adults, individuals experiencing housing insecurity, or other vulnerable populations is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of nutrition science, health promotion, food safety, and evidence-based nutrition education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated public speaking, presentation, training, and group facilitation skills.
• Ability to communicate nutrition concepts clearly to individuals with varying levels of health literacy.
• Ability to develop educational materials, recipes, presentations, and other nutrition resources.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong data management and reporting skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to independently plan and execute assigned responsibilities while maintaining a collaborative working style.
• Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Valid Florida driver’s license, insurable driving record, and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to pass a Level 2 background screening.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position operates in a combination of office, Food Bank, partner agency, healthcare, and community environments and requires regular local travel throughout Treasure Coast Food Bank’s service area.

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout Food Bank and community locations.
• Ability to transport nutrition education materials, presentation supplies, food, and cooking demonstration equipment as needed.
• Ability to safely prepare and handle food during cooking demonstrations and educational activities.
• Ability to operate a computer, audiovisual equipment, and other equipment necessary for presentations, demonstrations, data entry, and program administration.
• Ability to travel regularly to partner agencies, community events, program sites, and outreach locations.
• Flexible schedule required, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on program and community needs.
