The role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will design, develop, and validate the mechanical components and assemblies that make up Vale's automated matcha hardware platform.

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies for Vale's automated hardware systems
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD tools
  • Conduct tolerance analysis, FEA, and design for manufacture (DFM) analysis
  • Build and test prototypes to validate design intent and performance
  • Collaborate with Electrical, Firmware, and Controls engineers during integration
  • Manage design changes, BOMs, and documentation in PLM systems
  • Work closely with contract manufacturers to ensure design intent is maintained in production
Qualifications
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience in product development or hardware design
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent 3D CAD tool
  • Experience with DFM, GD&T, and manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, injection molding)
  • Hands-on prototyping experience with 3D printing and machine shop tools
  • Experience in a food-grade or medical device environment a plus
