Job description

Stellar is seeking a Process Project Engineer to be responsible for supporting and managing a diverse engineering and design project team, and to serve both an internal and external customer base from a project’s inception to its completion. You will research, define, test, and implements processes and develop P&ID’s, Process Flow Diagrams, Utility drawings, project specifications, and equipment layouts for food-processing facilities. You'll be responsible for properly sizing, specifying, and integrating process equipment, as well as coordinating structural, mechanical, electrical and control systems, as required. Knowledge of food-processing, packaging, material handling, and other process equipment/systems in compliance with state, federal and/or International codes & standards is required. Knowledge of RTE, bakery, coffee, protein, or dairy/beverage processes preferred.

  • Design – responsible for the Process-related engineering aspects of a project. Works with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers to develop Process Flow Diagrams, P&ID’s, and equipment layouts (General Arrangements) to efficiently meet customer specifications; ensures designs and layouts conform to specifications, code requirements, and food-safety requirements
  • Provides direction to engineers, designers and CAD operators for the creation of engineering drawings
  • Develops design specifications for external suppliers including OEM’s and Sub-Contractors
  • Provides attentiveness to detail, follow-up procedures, and documentation of action; proficient in time-management and personal organization
  • Generates and manages various forms of communication, including RFI’s and submittals, throughout the life-cycle of a project
  • Communicates directly with equipment vendors to obtain all necessary designs, drawings, and utility information. Utilizes collected data to design equipment Utility drawings
  • Prepares contract documents, calculations, observation reports, and estimates
  • Procurement – aids in the bidding of equipment and services by generating the appropriate bid documents, managing the bidding schedule, and conducting a bid analysis
  • Budget Control – assists by estimating layout costs (design and material) for specified process; seeks alternative methods that reduce cost of design; reviews activities to ensure design stays within projected costs
  • Client Interface – effectively responds to the needs and requests of clients, as required
  • Project Administration – utilizes company software/tools to ensure all necessary documents are in-place and processed; reviews and approves Engineering Change Notices; develops and implements design project schedules; schedules meetings as necessary with suppliers, owners, design teams, and permitting agencies; plans work schedules and timelines for support staff
  • External Relationships – coordinates with outside engineering and architectural resources on all aspects of design; communicates with permitting and regulatory agencies, as necessary
  • Provides onsite and/or offsite direction and support to Field Engineers and Superintendents throughout the equipment installation, startup, and commissioning phases of a project
  • Assists in updating all record data and drawings for final project completion and turnover

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred)
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience (Food and Beverage preferred)
  • Familiarity with Food Safety Designs and Guidelines
  • Technical Writing Skills
  • Skilled in relevant software; Procore, MS Office Suite, BlueBeam, Adobe, MS Project or Primavera P6, Power BI, AutoCAD and BIM / ACC
  • Travel required to customer locations, OEM locations, and construction site locations
