Job description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising employees in manufacturing; plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in manufacturing methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions.

  • Supervises blending, coating, tablet, bulk, and pharmacy manufacturing operations.

  • Reviews manufacturing batch records and work plans.

  • Performs system transactions to ensure the timely flow of materials and products.

  • Writes batch records, SOPs, special instructions, discrepancy reports, and batch investigations as needed.

  • Enforces Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Maintains a safe working environment across all operations.

  • Manages shift employees including scheduling PTO, participating in performance evaluations, and administering routine discipline.

  • Performs quality checks to ensure products meet standards and documentation is complete and accurate.

  • Utilizes staff efficiently to meet daily departmental requirements.

  • Assists in training operators across all phases of manufacturing processes.

  • Ensures production areas are clean and organized.

  • Maintains cost awareness throughout operations.

  • Acts as a liaison between production and support groups.

  • Enters basic data into databases to support operations.

  • Plans and directs production activities and sets production priorities based on operational and cost factors.

  • Coordinates with procurement, maintenance, and quality control for optimal resource utilization.

  • Reviews and analyzes production, QC, maintenance, and operational reports to identify and resolve issues.

  • Develops and implements methods to improve product quality and eliminate operational problems.

  • Adjusts production schedules in response to equipment or process issues.

  • Collaborates with maintenance to modify equipment for improved performance.

  • Enforces cross-training across manufacturing operations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Technical degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering with 1-2 years of experience; OR

  • High school diploma with 5-8 years of experience in a GMP-regulated environment (food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical).

  • Previous supervisory experience required.

  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.

  • Strong knowledge of GMPs and safety standards.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, unit conversions).

  • Experience with encapsulation and tablet press processes (preferably Bosch and Fette machines).


Other Requirements:

  • Must be available to work Monday-Friday, 1:45 PM - 10:15 PM.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to handle loads up to 10 lbs (occasionally up to 20 lbs).

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and squatting.

  • Ability to operate machinery and tools using arms/hands.

  • Clear vision (near and far).

  • Clear verbal communication and ability to understand others.
