What you’ll do: You’ll be responsible for the preparation of facility meals based on pre-planned menus in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Civil Commitment Office (TCCO) directives.

Essential functions:

  1. Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of clients.
  2. Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean, and sanitary at all times.
  3. Maintain accountability of kitchen tools.
  4. Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and visitors. 
  5. Assist in instructing clients assigned to food services in the safe, hygienic method of preparing and serving appetizing appealing meals.

Minimum requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. 
  • Six (6) months’ experience in food service preparation required. Correctional, commercial, or institutional food service experience preferred. 
  • Must have valid food handler’s certificate.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A valid driver license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
