Job description

Company Overview:Mr Greens, through Verdi Fine Foods, operates a protein processing and distribution facility in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Our operation supports customers across the hospitality and foodservice industries with a strong commitment to quality, food safety, service, and operational excellence. With deliveries 365 days a year, 7 days a week and multiple runs per day, Mr. Greens has set the gold standard for service.The Protein Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of protein products, including meat, poultry, and seafood, to support daily distribution operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining product availability, controlling costs, and ensuring product quality in a fast-paced food distribution environment.ResponsibilitiesSource and purchase protein products (meat, poultry, seafood) based on company needs and demand forecastsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendorsNegotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to ensure cost-effective purchasingMonitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and product availabilityCoordinate with sales and operations teams to align purchasing with customer demandEnsure product quality, food safety, and compliance with company standardsManage inventory levels to minimize waste and shortagesResolve supply issues, shortages, or quality concerns in a timely mannerTrack and analyze purchasing data, margins, and performance metricsRequirement4+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, or procurement (food industry preferred)Knowledge of protein products (meat, seafood, poultry) is highly preferredStrong negotiation, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environment handling perishable productsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systemsPhysical Demands/ Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
