If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join a world-class Food Science and Research & Development Center where innovation, technology, and continuous improvement come together.

As a Manufacturing Technical Writer, you'll work at the intersection of food science, manufacturing operations, and employee development. In this highly visible role, you'll collaborate with engineers, operators, maintenance teams, quality professionals, and subject matter experts to create training programs and technical documentation that support the development of a highly skilled workforce.

This is far more than a traditional writing role. You'll spend time both in the office and on the production floor, capturing real-world processes, equipment operations, and best practices that help drive operational excellence in a cutting-edge manufacturing and R&D environment.

What You'll Do

  • Develop training materials including process procedures, step-up cards, one-point lessons, work instructions, and competency-based learning resources.
  • Capture photos, videos, and process documentation to support learning content within our LMS and Adobe Creative Cloud platforms.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, and other subject matter experts to create accurate and effective training content.
  • Observe equipment and manufacturing processes to document workflows, identify gaps, and validate operational procedures.
  • Standardize training materials, documentation structure, and operator qualification requirements across departments.
  • Assist with the creation and review of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documentation.
  • Conduct follow-up evaluations with operators to confirm skill retention and support continuous learning initiatives.
  • Research equipment and processes to ensure training materials are current, accurate, and aligned with business needs.
  • Manage multiple projects and meet training development milestones in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in daily project meetings and maintain communication with stakeholders across the organization.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years technical writing experience in manufacturing setting
  • Experience creating training materials, technical documentation, work instructions, or learning content.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Snagit, Copilot, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar content development tools.
  • Comfortable using an iPad and digital documentation technology.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), food science, pilot plant operations, R&D environments, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Background supporting training, quality systems, safety programs, sanitation procedures, or operational excellence initiatives.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and document complex manufacturing processes.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve knowledge transfer and workforce development.
