Job Description

We are looking for an experienced System Safety Manager with practical expertise in Automotive Functional Safety ISO26262 to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of next-generation vehicles. 

The manager will be part of the CS project team and will collaborate closely with other Functional Safety Managers and Experts to lead and perform system-level Functional Safety activities and deliver the corresponding work products. 

The role focuses on system-level Functional Safety engineering according to ISO 26262 Parts 2, 3 and 4, acting at the interface between the OEM, system integrator and component suppliers. 

The position is open to candidates based in the United States (Michigan preferred) or Canada (Ontario or Quebec preferred). 

Responsibilities: 

  • Support Safety plan, DIA, Safety Case and supplier coordination activities 
  • Execute impact analyses, identify gaps, and define/recommend required adaptations  
  • Lead the execution of Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA) and deriving the corresponding safety goals 
  • Translate safety goals into Functional and Technical Safety Concepts (FSC/TSC)  
  • Perform safety analyses, including FMEA, FTA and DFA 
  • Develop and maintain safety verification and validation plans, specifications, test cases, reports, and compliance evidence 
  • Review and assess functional safety work products for compliance with ISO 26262 and related standards 
  • Participate in technical discussion as part of business development efforts 
Qualifications
  • 10+ years’ experience in system safety engineering, with a focus on automotive systems. 
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of ISO 26262 Parts 2, 3 and 4. 
  • Proven experience developing FSCs/TSCs and FSRs/TSRs. 
  • Practical experience performing FMEA, FTA and DFA. 
  • Experience with automotive and off-road vehicles 
  • Experience with powertrain systems (big differentiator) 
  • Able to interface with hardware and/or software functional safety teams (ISO 26262 Parts 5 and 6). 
  • Experience working across OEM and Tier-1/supplier interfaces. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with international customers and suppliers.
