Job Position: Plant Controller
Job Location: West Chicago, IL (over site Mt. Sterling OH plant)
Reports To: Plant Manager
Job Summary: The position is responsible for all aspects of financial administration within their respective manufacturing facility. This includes responsibilities in G/L accounting functions, financial statement preparation, timely month-end and year-end close, prepare and review accounting entries in accordance with GAAP, balance sheet account reconciliations, audit support and providing guidance on technical accounting issues. This position is the financial business partner and reports to the Plant Managers.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Variance Analysis amp; Reporting of Plant Operating Metrics - combination of financial and manufacturing metrics including, labor, machine utilization, shift performance, cost controls, inventory management, etc.
  • Support the Plant Manager amp; Supply Chain in developing amp; updating monthly production Plan, and measuring actual performance to Plan on a daily, weekly amp; monthly basis.
  • Work with Plant Operating staff to understand and improve processes amp; workflow including, raw materials processing, inventory management, quality assurance, shipping, and customer service.
  • Assist in financial close and monthly forecast for Plant
  • Will have specific Journal Entry responsibilities to support monthly close
  • Will be responsible for analyzing Plant P amp;L’s and conducting review with leadership team
  • Work with Plant Manager amp; staff in developing annual Plant Budget
  • Observe, analyze, develop and update actual labor cost per line amp; machine
  • Assist with ERP implementation at the Plant level
  • Capital expenditure tracking amp; cost improvement tracking
  • Work with Inventory Control to develop cycle counting process for raw materials and finished goods
  • Assist with corporate reporting and standard cost updates
  • Help drive and support a performance culture in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Other projects amp; assignments as needed
Competencies:
To be successful in this position, the individual performing the duties must successfully demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Planning and Organizing: Demonstrated ability to plan and organize your own work activities; analyze and disseminate numerical data; manage work time efficiently; follow procedures and policies; perform basic mathematical calculations; identify and solve problems; maintain a file system to include alphabetical, numerical, and chronological filing activities.
  • Communication: Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, business writing, grammar and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills, detail oriented, a team player and be highly deadline driven.
Experience:
  • BS degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • Cost Accounting/hands on manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience with FoodService, Consumer Products or the Automotive industry a plus.
  • Hands on, working in manufacturing plant to understand processes and identify improvement/savings opportunities.
  • Supports 2 manufacturing plants.
  • Overnight travel during the year is required.
