Essential Job Functions
Position:Kate's Mountain Outfitters Clerk/Fly Casting Instructor
Department:Retail
Primary Responsibilities: (guest interaction, ordering responsibilities, clean up duties, clerical responsibilities, etc.)
• Provide guests with knowledgeable and professional fly-casting lessons
• Be able to utilize our POS and Concepts reservation systems
• Well spoken and must speak in front of groups of guests or members
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Responsible for cleaning equipment
• Periodic Stream maintenance and clean up
Normal Working Hours: (Shift, days)
• 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
• Weekends and holidays
• Flexible working hours
• Shop open 7 days a week
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate must meet the following criteria
in addition to the Ten Essential Attributes for All Employees.
Past Work Experience Requirements: (Type of work, number of years required, equivalent experience, etc.)
• Customer Service skills
• Experience dealing with public
Educational Requirements: (Degree/Certification, highest required/preferred, field of study)
• High School Diploma
• CPR Certification required (or ability to obtain within the probationary period)
Communication Skills Requirements: (Verbal: phone, in-person, group; Written: memos, documents)
• Good written and verbal skills
Technical Requirements:
• Ability to operate and understand our POS system
• Implement and understand Retail SOP's
• Ability to learn product knowledge
• Valid WV Drivers License
• Valid State Fishing License (or ability to obtain within the probationary period) for any state we are guiding in
• Must be an experienced fly fisherman with in depth knowledge of fly rods, reels and lines
• Ability to make each basic cast on command, forward cast, back cast, roll cast, and be skilled on both single and double haul casting
• Roll cast 70 feet
• Overhead cast 60 feet without haul
• Overhead cast 90 feet with haul minimum 5 weight rod
• Good knot tying skills required, improve cinch knot, surgeons loop, and nail knot
• Must be able to demonstrate most common mistakes of fly casting and demonstrate how to correct them.
