Job description

This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching in the Welding department. The pool will remain open until June 2026 unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available.

Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of various welding courses. Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the computer science department of Rogue Community College.

Supervision Received The dean, in consultation with the department chair is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels. Examples of Duties - Essential Functions 1.

Instructs students in a classroom, lab or other setting as appropriate in such courses as fundamentals of welding, fabrication and repair, drafting/ blueprint reading, and metallurgy. 2. Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate.

3. Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course. 4.

Participates as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities. 5. Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed.

6. Engages in regular professional growth activity based on the objectives established in an approved professional growth plan. 7.

Represents the Welding Department and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner. 8. Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department.

9. Performs other duties as assigned. Screening Criteria Education: An Associate of Science degree in welding, manufacturing or industrial trades, is required.

A Bachelor's degree, teaching experience, and certified welder, certified welding inspector, is preferred. Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree

Experience: Manufacturing processes, welding, and teaching experience at the high school or college level are preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years of direct industry experience is preferred A demonstration of welding competency may be required during the interview. Knowledge of: Industrial welding, fabrication and repair, drafting, and metallurgy to industry standards are required.

Computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to word processing, the Internet, multi-media presentations, spreadsheets and database management; curriculum development; the community colleges' mission, role in higher education, and student population; and sensitivity to a diverse student body and its needs. Ability to: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with respect to diverse students, staff, agencies and community members; ability and willingness to work with non-traditional adult learners as well as teens; incorporate current technology into instruction; demonstrate excitement and enthusiasm in teaching welding; adapt to a variety of teaching situations, including lectures, group activities and individual instruction; participate in the student advising program and college-wide efforts to improve student retention and success; assist in curriculum and program development incorporating current educational theories and research; learn, apply and teach new technologies; work and interact effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Pass a criminal background check.

Licenses: If required to drive on behalf of the college, must possess a valid Oregon Driver License and provide proof of an acceptable driving record. Where appropriate, personal protective equipment will be issued and the employee will be trained in its proper application and use.
