Fly In Fly Out Welding information

What is a Fly In Fly Out Welding job?

A Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) welding job involves traveling to remote job sites, typically in mining, oil and gas, or construction industries, for scheduled work periods before returning home during off-shifts. Welders in these roles perform tasks such as pipeline welding, structural welding, and equipment repairs. FIFO positions often include accommodations, meals, and transportation provided by the employer. These jobs can offer high wages but require long work hours and extended time away from home.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Fly In Fly Out Welding position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fly In Fly Out Welder, you need advanced welding skills, attention to detail, physical stamina, and often a relevant trade certification or apprenticeship. Familiarity with various welding processes (such as MIG, TIG, or Stick), industry safety standards, and certifications like CWB or AWS are typically required. Adaptability, excellent communication, and the ability to work well in remote teams are valuable soft skills. These qualifications are crucial since the role involves working in isolated locations on demanding projects, often with tight schedules and diverse teams.

What are the typical work rotations and living conditions for Fly In Fly Out Welding roles?

Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) Welders usually work on a rotating schedule, such as two weeks on and one week off, depending on the project and employer. During on-site shifts, accommodations like camps or lodges are provided, offering meals and basic amenities to support the workforce in remote locations. You can expect long working days, often 10-12 hours, which are offset by extended periods off for rest and travel home. Working as part of a FIFO team fosters strong camaraderie but also requires you to adapt quickly to new teams and environments. Understanding these unique work and living arrangements helps ensure you're prepared for both the opportunities and challenges the role presents.

Role Summary
We are looking for a strategic Tax Manager to lead our 100% cloud-based firm. We specialize in high-level tax advisory for healthcare professionals and affluent business owners. In this role, you aren’t just reviewing forms—you’re the operational engine of the tax department. You will oversee team performance, refine workflows, and ensure we deliver the technical precision our high-net-worth clients expect.
Key Responsibilities
  • Departmental Leadership: Oversee day-to-day tax operations, eliminate bottlenecks, and align department goals with the firm's growth strategy.
  • Team Mentorship: Supervise and coach tax professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and professional development through regular feedback.
  • Technical Oversight: Review complex individual, business (1065, 1120S), and trust returns. Lead research for projections and manage IRS/state notices.
  • Process Innovation: Continuously improve workflows and leverage new technology to enhance accuracy and client experience.
  • Client Relationship Management: Ensure strategic, clear communication with clients and oversee their seamless onboarding into the tax department.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Experience: 7+ years in tax and accounting, including at least 3 years in a management role within a public accounting firm.
  • Education & Licensing: Bachelor’s in Accounting required (Master's preferred); CPA or EA certification highly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of U.S. tax laws and high proficiency in UltraTax CS and QuickBooks Online.
  • Soft Skills: Proven ability to mentor a team, solve complex problems, and communicate effectively in a remote environment.
  • Bonus Points: Experience with tax strategies for medical professionals or familiarity with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
Compensation/Benefits
  • Retirement & Health: 401(k) with profit sharing and a cash balance plan, plus monthly QSEHRA health reimbursement.
  • Time Off: Unlimited PTO and a fully remote, flexible work schedule.
  • Stipends & Gear: Monthly cell phone stipend and all necessary company-provided equipment.
  • Performance Rewards: Eligibility for biannual performance-based bonuses.
Why This Opportunity is Different
This isn’t a standard compliance shop; we are a growth-oriented advisory firm. You will have the autonomy to shape the department using EOS principles and modern tech tools. We value progress and process equally, offering a culture that focuses on strategic outcomes for a specific, high-value niche (healthcare and affluent owners) rather than chasing a high volume of general clients.
