Job description

Mantis Innovation provides managed facility services and turnkey program management with technology-enabled solutions that target the entire building footprint. We look at the entire facility—inside and out—and can impact 70% of what a building operator allocates critical budget dollars toward, including: Strategic electricity and natural gas procurement, renewable energy, and demand response; climate impact reduction and reporting, net zero strategies, and sustainability planning; roofing, solar, HVAC assessment management, pavement, building envelope, data center optimization, and EV charging; lighting/LED retrofits, HVAC/mechanical systems, and BMS/BAS improvements and implementation.

This role exists to build PLC/Ignition capability in the Umatilla, OR area to support data center work and ongoing service needs. The technician works independently in the field, handling commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting without relying on outside support. This role ensures projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards. It also establishes a consistent local presence to reduce travel dependency and support long-term work in the region.

OUTCOMES
  • Independently execute PLC/Ignition work on Umatilla projects within 90 days
  • Achieve 95%+ first-time pass rate on commissioning and startup work
  • Deliver assigned project scope on or ahead of schedule with zero delays caused by technical execution
  • Reduce reliance on fly-in support by 50%+ within first 6 months of hire
  • Maintain 90%+ uptime compliance on systems under their responsibility during startup and early operation
  • Complete all required commissioning and service documentation accurately and on time
  • Demonstrate strong ownership, reliability, and collaboration in a field-based team environment
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute installation, commissioning, and startup of PLC/Ignition-based control systems in data center environments
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network control system issues in live environments
  • Perform point-to-point checkouts, calibration, and full system validation independently
  • Deliver assigned project scope in alignment with schedule and quality requirements
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely commissioning and service documentation
  • Coordinate directly with subcontractors and internal teams to keep work progressing on schedule
  • Own service and troubleshooting work for systems under responsibility post-commissioning
  • Set technical execution standards in the field and ensure work meets quality expectations
  • Mentor junior technicians and enforce consistent execution practices when applicable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong hands-on experience with PLC systems
  • Experience with or ability to work in Ignition environments
  • Proven ability to independently execute commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting in live environments
  • Ability and willingness to be located within driving distance of Umatilla
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for field-based work
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 8-10 years of experience working in data center or other mission-critical environments
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • May require extended or non-standard hours based on project demands
The above pay range is Total Cash; a combination of base salary (dependent upon experience/Tech level) and additional bonus potential through internal programs (annual bonus, living expenses, profit sharing).
Note: Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job. This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the position.
