Water Treatment Technician

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Water Treatment Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of a municipal/industrial water treatment facility in Ontario. This role is responsible for monitoring treatment processes, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring high-quality drinking/process water for the community and customers.

This is a stable, long-term opportunity with strong training support and advancement potential for operators pursuing higher certification levels.


What You’ll Do
  • Operate and monitor water treatment and distribution systems

  • Perform routine testing, sampling, and laboratory analysis (chlorine residuals, turbidity, pH, etc.)

  • Adjust chemical feed systems and treatment processes to maintain water quality

  • Conduct daily plant inspections, readings, and operational logs

  • Respond to alarms and troubleshoot pumps, valves, filters, and instrumentation

  • Complete preventative maintenance and minor mechanical work

  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation and emergency response

  • Maintain accurate documentation and regulatory reporting

  • Ensure compliance with Ontario Safe Drinking Water Act and MECP regulations

  • Coordinate with maintenance, laboratory, and operations staff


Required Qualifications
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes (coagulation, filtration, disinfection, distribution)

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability

  • Ability to interpret SCADA data and operating trends

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G)

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and on-call as required


Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Treatment

  • Experience in municipal water plants, utilities, or industrial treatment facilities

  • SCADA/HMI monitoring experience

  • Pump maintenance or mechanical background (millwright/maintenance exposure is an asset)

  • Confined space and WHMIS training
