Join a Growing Orthopedic Program in Central Oregon

St. Charles Health System is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to join our highly respected Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and Physiatry Service Line. This is an outstanding opportunity to practice in a collaborative, physician-led environment with access to advanced facilities, strong referral volume, and exceptional quality of life in Bend, Oregon. 

Our service line includes nearly 60 providers representing the full spectrum of neuromusculoskeletal care and plays a key role in supporting a rapidly expanding regional trauma program.

About the Role

The Orthopedic Hand Surgeon provides comprehensive care for patients with upper extremity conditions, including elective, urgent, and trauma-related injuries from the elbow to the fingertips. The position includes a balanced mix of clinic, surgery, and hospital-based care, supported by experienced APPs and multidisciplinary teams.

Primary practice sites include St. Charles Bend and Redmond hospitals, Cascade SurgiCenter, and Bend Surgery Center.

Practice Highlights

  • Dedicated hand surgery focus with opportunity for elective and acute cases
  • Approximately 32 patient-facing hours per week for a 1.0 FTE
  • Blend of clinic, surgical block time, and inpatient rounding
  • Participation in orthopedic hand call rotation
  • Optional participation in orthopedic trauma coverage if qualified
  • Collaboration with orthopedic subspecialists, trauma surgeons, and APPs
  • Opportunity to participate in outreach clinics as desired

What Youll Do

  • Evaluate and treat a full spectrum of hand and upper extremity conditions
  • Perform elective and emergency orthopedic surgical procedures
  • Provide conservative and operative treatment planning
  • Interpret imaging and diagnostic studies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated patient care
  • Document care within the Epic EMR system
  • Participate in quality improvement, education, and service line development

Qualifications

Required:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency
  • Board certified or board eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Current or eligible Oregon medical license
  • Unrestricted DEA registration
  • ATLS certification

Preferred:

  • Fellowship training in Hand Surgery
  • Experience in hospital and outpatient orthopedic practice
