Job description

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations;

  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components;

  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance;

  • Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors;

  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems;

  • Maintain, repair, test and install all electrical installation (Buildings, pumping stations etc.);

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices;

  • Conduct preventive/corrective maintenance programs and keep maintenance records;

  • May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices;

  • Any other duties required by the Supervisor.

  • Electrical journeyman license is required;

  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Journeyman or equivalent;

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience on a remote mine site;

  • Possess strong Instrumentation skills is an asset;

  • Possess a Red Seal;

  • Being comfortable to work at height;

  • Creativity and an analytical approach to problem-solving;

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications as well as knowledgeable about computerized systems;

  • Possess an adequate physical condition;

  • Possess a good ethic work, a positive attitude and ability to work in Team;

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written);

  • Position reserved for Nunavut Inuit Beneficiary candidates.
