Job description

The Orvis Company is seeking Seasonal Summer Fly Rod Manufacturing Associates to join our team in Manchester, Vermont, helping craft world-renowned fly-fishing rods.

Schedule
• Monday-Friday
• 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
• Seasonal summer position
Position Summary
This position reports to a Rod Shop Production Lead or Supervisor and collaborates closely with Rod Shop associates and the management team.
Key Responsibilities
• Represent the Orvis brand and uphold the company's core values
• Perform tasks involved in the manufacturing of Orvis fly rods, including:
Cutting, cleaning, and painting rod sections
Assembling and installing reel seats and cork handles
Affixing guides to rod blanks
Inspecting completed work to ensure quality standards are met
• Follow established specifications and meet production goals
• Maintain a safe, organized, and team-oriented work environment
• Complete additional assignments as directed by Rod Shop leadership
Required Qualifications
• Must be at least 18 years old, and legally authorized to work in the United States
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately
• Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks and use small hand tools
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 30 pounds
• Ability to stand and move throughout the workday,
• Collaborative, adaptable, and solution-oriented approach to work
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or detailed hands-on work
• Familiarity with hand tools or craftsmanship-related work
• Interest in outdoor recreation or appreciation for quality craftsmanship
