Nature & Purpose of Position
This student employee position supports a long-term, grant-supported project titled "Establishment of a UAV Design and Development Laboratory and Student Team." The goal of this initiative is to establish an Aerospace Student Club and train students in the design, prototyping, and testing of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for entry into high-profile national and international competitions such as SAE Aero Design and AIAA Design/Build/Fly.
Selected student assistants will take part in multidisciplinary engineering tasks including UAV frame design, electronics setup, flight systems programming, and autonomous navigation research. This position provides hands-on experience in drone development and real-world engineering challenges, along with opportunities for research, technical documentation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and publication in conferences and journals.

  • Prior hands-on experience with drone or UAV design, remote-controlled aircraft etc. is preferred. Please submit one page describing your prior experience relevant to UAV development, robotics, or hands-on engineering design.
  • Basic proficiency in programming and hardware integration (servos, receiver, transmitter, ESC, batteries, motors, propellers etc.) for remote controlled drones and airplanes is strongly recommended.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools, aerodynamics, and structural design is a plus.
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Preference will be given to students who have at least two academic years remaining before graduation.
