Job description

Savannah River Mission Completion is seeking a Technical Lead - Radioactive Waste Disposal & Assessment to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

The Technical Lead - Radioactive Waste Disposal & Assessment develops, implements, and defends technical assessments, calculations, computational models, and miscellaneous documents that support the long-term capacity of engineered and natural barrier systems to isolate radioactive waste at the Savannah River Site (SRS) from the surrounding environment.


General responsibilities include:

  • Compilation of technical inputs (i.e., calculations, computational models, etc.) to produce multi-faceted environmental and radiological performance assessments (PAs) and safety case assessments.
  • Interfacing with facility engineering and operations, regulatory stakeholders, and Department of Energy (DOE) customers.
  • Contributing to the fulfillment of project and organizational objectives as a team member dedicated to demonstrating long-term compliance of radioactive waste disposal actions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Computer Science or other related science degree from an accredited university or college

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Background with the Department of Energy defense programs and chemical processes.
  • Familiarity in flow and contaminant transport modeling calculations.

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor. The SRMC Team is responsible for the closure of waste tanks, the operation of the Savannah River Site’s Defense Waste Processing Facility, tank farm operations and associated production and disposal facilities.  https://www.savannahrivermissioncompletion.com
