Requisition Summary
Seeking an energetic, independent Aerodynamic Engineer. with interest in functioning as a Computational Fluid Dynamic Subject Matter Expert responsible for researching, developing, and evaluating Aerodynamic and other CFD related improvements on industry-leading Peterbilt trucks.
The Aerodynamic Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of CFD related activities including but not limited to external aerodynamics, internal fluid dynamics, heat transfer, particle tracking, and aeroacoustics. Scope of work will include promoting new concepts to technical peers and higher levels of management, and leading collaboration between multiple engineering teams to implement new and/or revised features. Work may also include physical prototyping and contributing to activities to evaluate concepts on full size vehicles.
Job Responsibilities
  • Actively participate as technical CFD expert and advocate to protect performance throughout the product design process
  • Identify opportunities, generate, develop, and validate innovative solutions for increased performance and present ideas for further development
  • Participate in design related discussions/meetings to provide guidance
  • Work with engineering, styling, surfacing, and management to implement optimal solutions
  • Coordinate, prepare, execute, and report out results of CFD analysis to cross-functional teams and management
  • Manage utilization of simulation and consulting services
  • Maintain database of CFD analysis results
  • Develop and maintain CFD analysis process documents
  • Participate in physical testing

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 7+ years' experience
  • 5+ years' experience conducting CFD analysis & aerodynamic design/development
  • 5+ years' experience using CAD

Preferred Qualifications
  • Aerodynamic and/or fluid dynamic testing experience
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck components and systems
  • Experience utilizing Dassault PowerFlow, PowerDelta, PowerCase, PowerInsight, Siemens Star CCM, Altair UltraFluidX, or similar
  • Proficient and/or experienced in conducting CFD analysis and generating graphs/charts
  • Strong background and understanding of fluid dynamics
  • Strong background in Applied CFD methods
  • Experience utilizing PTC Creo
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience managing multiple projects
  • Experience presenting to Sr. Management and leading others through non-direct reporting roles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
