GCM Equipment Operator Job Responsibilities:

  • Greets members and guests with a smile and takes care of their needs.
  • Operates power tools such as blowers, edgers and fairway rough mowers, walk mowers or
    rotary mowers.
  • Waters and fertilizes putting greens, tees, fairways and roughs under directions of supervisor following calibration by spray technician.
  • Grades and prepares soil plant bed, lays sod, plants vegetative material, and seeds golf course. Trims trees and prunes shrubbery.
  • Changes hole locations and moves tee markers.
  • Assists with chemical applications on greens, fairways and tees.
  • Assists in minor irrigation repair including digging up leaks and replacing damaged sprinkler heads.
  • Directs, on occasion, work crews of 1-2 employees. Receives specific instructions for each task, may work independently following each task assignment.
  • Operates mechanical loaders in moving soil, debris, and other materials. Drives a dump truck, if properly licensed to do so.
  • Represents the club with the utmost of professionalism.
  • Cleans maintenance area, equipment, and check fluid levels daily.
  • Inspects machinery after each use and reports machinery/equipment problems to
    mechanics/superintendents and or assistant superintendents.
  • Follows safety guidelines described in the operating procedures and generally practices behavior that ensures the safety of the employee, co-workers, members, and guests.
  • Complies with departmental grooming standards.
  • Works variety of shifts, as needed to include nights, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Complies with departmental and Club policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

GCM Equipment Operator Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous Golf Course Landscaping or Maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge and applicability of tools, methods and material used in golf course and ground maintenance.
  • A valid driver’s license to operate Club vehicle is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to a wide variety of people.
  • Pro-active problem solver who is both approachable and tactful.
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions.
  • Must be able to safely operate trucks and motorized equipment.
  • Must have the willingness to provide exceptional service to members.

GCM Equipment Operator Physical Requirements:

  • Stands, kneels, bends, climbs, balances, pushes and walks for 95% of workday.
  • Lifts from 1 pound up to 10 pounds for 90% of workday.
  • Lifts from 1 pound up to 25 pounds for 50% of workday.
  • Lifts and moves from 1 pound up to 50 pounds for 25% of workday.
  • Stoops, crawls, twists, reaches and manipulates equipment and power tools to complete.

  • Exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, loud noise levels and or airborne particles.
  • Works outdoors in inclement weather 90% of the workday.
