Compensation: $20.75 - $26.00 per hour

Summary

The shop utility position will report to the shop foreman of their respected area. They will do a variety of tasks related to supporting shop operations and shop fabrication including material handling, receiving/loading material, packaging projects ready to ship, putting away/organizing stock material, and various other tasks related to operation of fabrication shop.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Work with receiving, Packaging, and Shipping Jobs/Materials

a) Double check material when receiving. Looking at both material type, size and quantity.

b) Put away materials daily when received. Reference PO# to see if material is stock or for a job.

2. Material Handling, shop material organization and cleanliness.

a) Maintain shop cleanliness and organization of materials, racks and shop floor space.

b) Oversee cleanliness of break area, bathroom, tool crib, and other multi-use shop spaces and areas.

c) Work to transport materials to various work areas/stations as required by production schedule.

3. Work in Powder Coat and Blast Operations

a) Maintain equipment and workflow in powder coat/blast areas

b) Maintain inventory of stock powders. Keep area clean and orderly

c) Operation and maintenance of blast equipment.

d) Operation and maintenance of powder coat equipment.

4. Maintain South yard garbage, wood and scrap metal dumpsters.

a) Maintain area in south yard where garbage’s, scrap dumpster and wood dumpster. Notify shop foreman when scrap or wood dumpsters need to be swapped out.

b) Collect garbage in both Structural shop and Custom Fab shop. Take them out to the south yard first thing every Monday, Wednesday, Friday morning. Bring garbage back into the building at 11am on the same day to designated areas.

Education and/or Experience

Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma and two to three years related experience.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications

Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include welding equipment, forklift, hoists, riggings, and various hand and power tools. Requires a broad knowledge of mechanics, metal properties, welding techniques and maintenance procedures and practices.

Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to lift, push or pull 50 lbs., 75 lbs. on occasion. Ability to use paint gun and use hands and fingers, grip; reach; balance; and talk and hear. Uses close vision for paint inspection. Demonstrates accountability for all safety procedures.
