Job description

SUMMARY            

The Bartender provides beverages and excellent guest service from the assigned bar while working with Cocktail Servers and Wait staff to prepare drink orders.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provides excellent and personalized beverage service to our guests by engaging with each guest in a professional and courteous manner. 
  • Crafts and serves a diverse range of high-quality cocktails, wines, and other beverages with precision and creativity.
  • Maintains deep understanding of the casino and restaurant beverage menus to ensure a quick and efficient service of beverages. Ensures all beverages are served in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards. 
  • Offer recommendations to guests and staff to ensure a high-quality guest service experience.
  • Takes drink orders accurately and efficiently.  Ensures orders are delivered to the guest or staff member in a timely manner and all requested items are accurate. 
  • Ensures bar is appropriately stocked and works with Barback to ensure restocking is done in a timely manner.
  • Works with the Point of Sale (POS) system to accurately enter orders and charge guests for their orders. Makes accurate change.
  • Follows all responsible service of alcohol guidelines including service times, monitoring for signs of intoxication, and checking identification for age requirements.
  • Sets up and maintains cleanliness and organization of work area according to food safety standards and sanitation requirements.  
  • Performs all duties in a positive, professional manner. Maintains a clean and professional appearance according to company standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Must be able to work the required work schedule, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Works physically onsite to perform all assigned tasks.
  • Ensures all safety standards are met, and possible safety hazards are quickly resolved.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES 

  • 1 year working as a bartender is required.   Experience within a craft bar is highly preferred.  Experience with POS in a fast-paced restaurant, bar, or casino preferred. 1 year cash handling experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of mixology, beverages, and drink preparation techniques required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary to create a positive guest experience with both internal and external guests.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and work through multiple tasks at once.  This includes the ability to work calmly and effectively under deadlines. Must be detailed oriented.
  • Must be able to work individually or with a team as necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to work safely and efficiently within a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, calculate fractions, and multiply.
  • Must be able to maintain the appropriate Gaming License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain responsible service of alcohol certification through Prairie Flower training courses. 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS 

  • Regularly required to stand and walk for entire shift.   
  • Regularly lifts and carries up to 50 pounds. 
  • Uses hands grasp, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.  Must have the dexterity to hold and maneuver bar glasses, appliances, and garnishments.  Will constantly need dexterity for mixing, shaking, and presenting drinks in glassware.
  • Consistently required to reach with hands and arms, and balance. Will often crouch and bend.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud on the casino floor.
  • Must be able to operate in mentally stressful situations.
  • This casino has an enclosed gaming area where smoking is allowed.  Team members may be exposed to a smoking environment in or around this designated smoking area.
