Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursueour missionat MSK and around the globe.

New at MSK: The Flow Cytometry Laboratory is seeking aLaboratory Technologist I or II interested in learning specialized, high complexity testing.

The Flow Cytometry Laboratory performs a series of assays on various cellular components of the immune system, providing key informationin the diagnosis of leukemias and lymphomas, and in monitoring the immune systems of numerous groups of patients, including those receiving bone marrow transplants or biologic response modifiers.

MSK is also dedicated to providing diverse educational opportunities to further develop the skills and ambitions of our medical technologists, laboratory managers, and laboratory directors.

Role Overview:

  • Perform technical duties in all laboratory sections, as assigned.

  • Review test orders and verify accuracy of corresponding specimens.

  • Maintain digital files in a neat and accessible manner.

  • Accurately maintain specimen identity from entry to the lab to release of results.

  • Navigate laboratory information systems proficiently.

  • Be aware of and contribute to the safetyand cleanlinessof the laboratory.

  • Restock reagents and supplies as necessary.

  • Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratory's Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance.

  • Handle the physical environment of the laboratory in accordance with New York State DOH, Joint Commission, OSHA and CLIA regulations

  • Provide direction, training, and feedback on routine laboratory procedures, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (licenses restricted to flow cytometry are acceptable).

  • A Bachelors degree

  • Some experience in flow cytometry ispreferred.

  • Candidates with a keen interest in flow cytometry and an eagerness to learn will be considered for a Technologist I role, while those with at least 2 years of clinical laboratory experience will be considered for a Technologist II role.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Motivationto constantly learn and to develop your skills ina highly sophisticatedand demanding laboratory setting.

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Variable shift until 10pm from Monday to Saturday

  • Location: 327 E 64th
