Job Description

The primary objective of a 1099 contracted agent is to generate new business, manage client renewals annually, and provide ongoing service to members. As a licensed 215 agent, you will build a book of business under Florida Blue exclusively, focusing on ACA (Under 65) and Medicare (Over 65) segments. This is an outside sales position requiring proactive outreach and full-cycle sales execution.
Agents may opt in to Apple's year-round lead distribution system. Participation requires a mutually agreed-upon production schedule. This role is ideal for agents who are adaptable, proactive, and focused on long-term client relationships.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain a current Florida 215 Health License and active Florida Blue appointment
  • Complete all mandatory training, certifications, and carrier onboarding
  • Sell Florida Blue products through compliant sales processes: face-to-face, phone, and electronic
  • Guide prospects through the entire sales process from lead to close
  • Manage book of business through renewals, service, and retention efforts
  • Address and resolve policy delinquencies and member account issues
  • Engage in age-in, age-out, and life event transitions with professionalism and accuracy
  • Analyze member needs and conduct product comparisons using carrier-approved tools
  • Present plan options clearly, explaining benefits and value-added services
  • Educate clients on Florida Blue's self-service platforms and enrollment resources
  • Cross-sell eligible products (e.g., dental, vision, income protection) to maximize client value
