Job Summary: The Floral Service Clerk must smile, greet, and be courteous to customers. S/he must work with management and all other associates to provide a high level of customer service, be punctual, assist in any way possible and as directed to provide for a clean and safe store environment. S/he must maintain and operate the Floral Department in an efficient manner within Company policy. Ensure that the Floral Department contributes to the financial best interests of the store. As a PFM team member is able to exemplify Pete's Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties according to Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe Company dress code.
  • Observe shift operating hours at all times as scheduled or assigned by Store Manager.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
  • Assist in receiving and unloading of merchandise.
  • Check and verify grocery receiving to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered.
  • Check products for quality, count, and condition.
  • Take product to storage or shelf areas.
  • Open cartons and price, display, store or process product according to established procedures and policies.
  • Communicate with Manager or other designated personnel of low inventory conditions or spoilage problems.
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to Company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
  • Answer phones and take special orders.
  • Ensure the proper processing, arranging, packaging, and pricing of merchandise.
  • Comply fully with all Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and highly friendly, courteous service and/or assistance. Focus on suggestive selling to reach weekly sales goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of experience in grocery store or similar retail environment.
  • Must have a valid and up to date Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Must have basic math/calculating skills.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be capable of providing and modeling exceptional customer service.
  • Must have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow-team members.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in groups.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands
  • Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
  • Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs and as required to ensure adequate store staffing.
  • Must have reliable source of transportation.

Starting hourly rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and will vary based on things like location, experience, and qualifications. All positions are eligible for Overtime, and some positions will have guaranteed Overtime available.
Hourly rate for Suburban Stores is $15-$18
Hourly rate for City of Chicago Stores is $17.05-$18
