Job description

Position Summary
Floor Technicians are generally responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing buffing, shampooing, extraction, & bonneting) of areas that include offices, patient rooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and others public areas, such as cafeterias. Other required housekeeping duties may be assigned by the Floor Tech lead and Department Manager. Employees in this job classification will maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by utilizing available resources and their maintenance skills.
Major Responsibilities
Floor Care skills and Critical thinking - 60%
  • Performs maintenance duties related to the hospital grounds, i.e. buffing, cleaning, stripping, and waxing floors.
  • Capable of performing carpet maintenance such as cleaning, shampooing, bonneting, extraction, etc.
  • Assists in repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Able to operate and maintain all floor cleaning/finishing equipment to include but not limited to floor buffer/burnisher, water extraction machine, and carpet cleaning equipment.
  • Responsible for proper handling of all chemicals following proper infection control policies and proper PPE use.
  • Maintenance of Floor care equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead of Management

Communication - 20%
  • Always maintains effective communication with department management and teams.
  • Manages the workflow daily and helps technicians with their orders and projects.
  • Provides cleaning services and tile/carpet floor maintenance with consideration of patients, their family, and friends, with regard to their personal dignity and respect for their values.

Safety and Team Building - 20%
  • Helps develop an attitude for team building and cooperation within the facility and

department.
  • Performs duties in a safe, functional, and effective manner that reduces hazards and risks,

prevents accidents and injuries and maintains safe conditions by adhering to establish safety.

  • Maintains a safe, clean, secure environment for staff and customers as evident by Safety and

Infection Surveillance reports; analysis of Departmental Incident Reports; observations by
Administrative Team.
  • Accepts on-call schedule and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fire Card.
  • At least 6 months as a Floor Care Technician

Preferred
  • 1 - 3 years' experience as a Floor Care Technician in a hospital or hotel setting.
