Job description

Floor Coverings International of Saratoga Springs is looking to add a skilled hardwood refinisher subcontractor to join our growing network of installers and refinishers. We are a locally owned flooring company serving the Capital District from Clifton Park to Lake George and beyond. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates clearly, and represents our brand professionally in customers’ homes.
 
This is a subcontractor opportunity, not a W-2 position. We pay fair market rates and treat our subcontractor partners with the same respect and professionalism as our internal team.
 
What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate is experienced in hardwood sanding and refinishing, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality work. You should be able to manage projects efficiently while maintaining strong safety standards and a positive customer experience.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare flooring for sanding and refinishing, including assessing the current condition and performing minor repairs.
  • Operate sanding equipment to remove old finishes and smooth surfaces.
  • Apply stains, finishes, and sealants according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Complete projects on time and to a high standard.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper handling of materials.
  • Work with the project coordinator and design associate to ensure scope and customer expectations are met.
  • Represent FCI of Saratoga Springs professionally on every job.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of wood flooring types and finishing products.
  • Reliable work vehicle (vehicle magnetic will be provided).
  • You are required to have your own tools and equipment.
  • Clean, professional appearance on job sites.
  • Maintain a clean jobsite and follow dust mitigation best practices.
  • Ability to follow scope of work and communicate questions before problems arise.
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of the job (crouching, lifting, standing, etc.).
  • Must carry own liability insurance.
  • Must be able to provide a W-9 form.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
