Job description

The Stormwater Project Manager is a mid-to-senior level technical leadership role focused on the planning, analysis, design, and execution of comprehensive water resource and stormwater infrastructure. In this role, you will lead interdisciplinary teams and serve as a trusted advisor to clients, balancing advanced technical expertise with project management, relationship building, and mentorship. Your project portfolio will span critical public and private sector assignments, including green stormwater infrastructure (GSI), complex urban drainage systems, floodplain management, water quality improvements, and the integration of resilient stormwater solutions into community planning, site development, and transportation projects.

The right candidate will have the skills and ability to address the following tasks:

  • Lead the planning, technical direction, and delivery of stormwater infrastructure projects, including green stormwater infrastructure, water quality and quantity improvements, and floodplain management projects.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams in developing innovative, practical, and defensible stormwater solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted client advisor and primary technical point of contact on complex municipal, state, and private stormwater assignments.
  • Direct project schedules, budgets, scope, deliverables, and client communications to ensure successful execution and strong client satisfaction.
  • Lead quality assurance and quality control standards across all phases of project delivery.
  • Contribute to business development efforts through client engagement, proposal development, scope definition, and identification of new opportunities.
  • Prepare and present technical memoranda, reports, briefings, and client presentations that clearly communicate project direction and recommendations.
  • Mentor junior engineers, helping build technical depth, professional confidence, and leadership capacity within the team.
  • Perform and oversee hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for GDOT projects, bridge design and drainage design for municipal and private clients.
  • Author Preliminary Engineering Reports (PER), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and feasibility studies for submittal to regulatory agencies.
  • Provide technical oversight for designs, construction documents, plans, specifications, and costbenefit analyses.
  • Provide seniorlevel review and oversight of hydraulic, hydrologic, and watershed analyses, including GISbased data interpretation and statistical evaluation.
  • Prepare technical permit packages for submittal to local municipalities, FEMA (CLOMR/LOMR), and state environmental departments.
  • Conduct site visits during the design phase for data collection and during construction to ensure adherence to design specifications and "Best Management Practices" (BMPs).
  • We’re looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Biological Systems Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Georgia required, South Carolina license preferred.
  • 510+ years of handson experience in stormwater design and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS, along with experience using modeling software such as HydroCAD, PCSWMM, and HECRAS (1D/2D).
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Proven experience preparing and delivering client presentations, preferably for municipal or other publicsector clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and build trusted client relationships.
