Themechatronicstechnicianwillbeakeymemberoftheteamresponsibletocontribute to the design, maintenance, repair and problem solving of complex automated equipment bycombining their mechanical, electrical and software skills. In this role you will contribute to thecompany's products and support the projects that are part of the discovery and formation of newcompanyproducts.

Our head office is located in the beautiful city of Kelowna BC, with a satellite office located in Calgary AB.

This will be ahybrid employment opportunitywith work hours divided between remote (home) and office attendance. Preference will be given to candidatesfrom Calgary AB.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

AsaMechatronicsTechnician you will serve as the in-house subject matter expert that troubleshoots and repairs issues related to complex automated equipment such asunmanned aerialvehicles("UAV's"). You will contribute to the delivery of complex solutions and featuresfor company projects and products related to but not limited to, sensor integrations, real-time data processing, automated target recognition and data fusion. You will work with your technical lead and team lead to bridge thegapbetweensoftwareandhardware. You will be involved in the production of hardware that is mission critical for the Company and support the softwaredevelopment team by ensuring hardware runs safely, efficiently and as expected.

  • System Diagnostics: Troubleshooting and resolution of complex mechanical, electrical, and software issues in automated equipment and robotics, with a specific focus onuncrewed aerial vehicles.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Ensure equipment is fit for purpose through routine inspections, maintenance and calibrations where needed to ensure peak operational performance.
  • PLC & Software Control: Monitor, diagnose, and modify programmable logic controllers programs and human-machine-interface configurations.
  • System Assembly: Build and configure multi-rotor and or fixed-wing UAV airframes.
  • Integration: Integrate payloads, sensors etc.
  • Electronics & Wiring: Fabrication of harnesses, route power distribution systems, and solder components to aerospace quality standards.
  • Testing & Quality Control: Perform pre-flight bench tests, continuity checks, firmware updates, and sensor calibrations. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software anomalies.
  • Field Support: Assist field and flight teams during field deployments, performing on-site repairs, routine maintenance, and equipment inspections.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate build records, Bill of Materials (BOM), and incident/repair logs.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma, technical certification or higher in mechatronics, robotics, electronics engineering technology, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of hands-on experience assembling, maintaining, or repairing drones or advanced electromechanical/robotics systems.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency with soldering, crimping, and using electronics tools such as multimeters.
  • Experience with ground control stations (GCS) and flight controller software is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded Linux and NVIDIA Jetson platforms (L4T).
  • A Valid Transport Canada Advanced RPAS Pilot Certificate (or ability to obtain within 3 months) and a clean Class 5 drivers license is preferred.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • The ability to lift up to 50lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
  • Must be eligible to attain a high-level Security Clearance (Secret minimum) and maintain clean criminal record checks as per contract compliance.
  • Previous military experience, or experience working with the military as a civilian employee/contractor is considered an asset.

COMPENSATION

  • $81,600 - $110,400
  • 5 weeks flexible paid vacation, PLUS an additional 1 week paid vacation during the Christmas holiday season. A total of6 weeks paid vacation!
