Job Summary:

The Inspection Apprentice supports the Quality Department by assisting Mechanical Inspection and Metrology personnel with day-to-day inspection activities, part handling, preparation, organization. This position works closely with experienced inspectors to help ensure parts move efficiently through the inspection process while maintaining proper handling, identification, traceability, and quality standards.


This is a hands-on support position ideal for an individual interested in developing knowledge and experience in aerospace manufacturing, dimensional inspection, precision measuring equipment, blueprint reading, and quality processes.


Job Responsibilities:

- Assist Mechanical and Metrology Inspectors with the preparation and organization of parts for inspection.

- Retrieve, stage, organize, and transport parts to and from designated inspection areas. Ensuring parts are protected from damage during handling and movement.

- Verify that parts, travelers, routers, drawings, and other required documentation remain together and properly identified throughout the inspection process.

- Learn and apply inspection techniques and methodologies for components.

- Assist with basic dimensional inspection activities under the direction and supervision of qualified inspection personnel.

- Shadow experienced inspectors to gain hands-on experience in mechanical and metrology inspections.

- Participate in training sessions to improve inspection skills and knowledge of industry standards.

- Help maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all equipment is properly stored and maintained.

- Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

- Clean parts and inspection surfaces as needed prior to measurement.

- Perform other Quality Department support duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and components.

- Strong interest in developing skills in mechanical inspection and metrology.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

- Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.

- Proficiency in using computer software for data entry and reporting.

- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift objects up to 40 pounds.

- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods.

- Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including possible overtime.

- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Educational Qualification and Experience:

- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
