Job Summary

The Banquet Server is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service to guests during catered events, banquets, weddings, and corporate functions. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment to ensure seamless event execution from setup to cleanup.

Key Responsibilities

Event Setup & Preparation:

Review event orders, floor plans, and run sheets to understand specific guest requirements and timelines.

Set up banquet rooms, tables, chairs, linens, silverware, glassware, and station setups according to high standards and event specifications.

Polish silverware and glassware prior to service.

Food & Beverage Service:

Serve plated or buffet-style meals, appetizers, and beverages to guests in a polite, prompt, and professional manner.

Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly to requests, and address any concerns or complaints with a positive, hospitality-first attitude.

Clear tables efficiently throughout the event, removing finished plates, glasses, and debris while maintaining a clean and orderly dining space.

Adhere strictly to local alcohol service laws and responsible beverage policies (e.g., checking IDs, monitoring consumption).

Event Breakdown & Cleanup:

Clear and dismantle table setups, buffet stations, and service areas at the end of the event.

Properly store, inventory, and return all equipment, linens, china, and glassware to their designated storage areas.

Clean and reset the banquet space for the next scheduled function.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Previous serving, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred, but on-the-job training is often provided.

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and carry heavy trays (up to 30–40 lbs) for extended periods (shifts often last 6 to 10 hours).

Communication: Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a guest-focused mindset.

Flexibility: Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event demands.

Teamwork: Ability to work cooperatively with kitchen staff, bartenders, and fellow servers under high-pressure, fast-paced conditions.
