Flexible Web3 Developer information

What is a flexible Web3 developer?

A Flexible Web3 Developer is a software engineer who specializes in building decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts on blockchain platforms, while also being adaptable to various technologies and project requirements. They work with technologies like Ethereum, Solidity, and web frameworks, often bridging traditional web development with blockchain solutions. The 'flexible' aspect refers to their ability to handle multiple programming languages, frameworks, and rapidly changing Web3 technologies. These developers play a crucial role in creating secure, scalable, and user-friendly blockchain applications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a flexible Web3 developer?

To thrive as a Flexible Web3 Developer, you need strong proficiency in blockchain fundamentals, smart contracts, and programming languages like Solidity or Rust, typically backed by experience in decentralized applications. Familiarity with tools such as Ethereum, IPFS, Truffle, and relevant certification (e.g., Certified Blockchain Developer) is highly valuable. Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and effective communication help developers excel in fast-evolving, collaborative environments. These skills and qualities are critical for building secure, innovative blockchain solutions and keeping pace with rapid industry changes.

How does working as a flexible Web3 developer typically involve collaboration with other teams or stakeholders?

As a Flexible Web3 Developer, you'll often work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UI/UX designers, and smart contract auditors. Collaboration is key, as you'll need to translate requirements into decentralized applications and ensure seamless integration with blockchain protocols. Regular communication with stakeholders helps align development efforts with project goals, and you'll frequently participate in code reviews, agile sprints, and brainstorming sessions. This collaborative environment fosters continuous learning and allows you to contribute to multiple facets of the project.

What is the difference between Flexible Web3 Developer vs Blockchain Developer?

Job description

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring web3 to a billion people, by providing builders with the tools they need to build exceptional onchain products. Alchemy is the only complete developer platform that offers the powerful APIs, SDKs, and tools necessary to build and scale onchain apps and rollups. Our infrastructure powers 70% of the top web3 teams, 90%+ of web2 companies building in web3 and 100+ million end users. Our customers include top web3 brands like Polymarket, OpenSea, Circle, WorldCoin, as well as major global brands like Shopify and Adobe. The Alchemy team draws from decades of deep expertise in massively scalable infrastructure, AI, and blockchain from leadership roles at leading companies and universities like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Stanford, and MIT. We’re backed by the world’s leading VCs and institutions, including Lightspeed, Silver Lake, a16z, Coatue, Pantera, Addition, Stanford University, Coinbase, and Charles Schwab, among others.

The Role

As an engineer focused on backend systems at Alchemy, you’ll be working with one of the most sophisticated and high‑throughput distributed systems in the blockchain world. You’ll focus on architecting and building new systems as well as improving existing ones for a platform that supports millions of users globally.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain Alchemy’s batch pipelines that power our production serving systems.
  • Set up frameworks and tools to help team members create and debug pipelines by themselves.
  • Track data quality and latency, and set up monitors and alerts to ensure smooth operation.
  • Build production DAG workflows for batch data processing and storage.
  • Aggregate logs from multiple regions and multiple clouds.
  • Design and implement our next‑generation data warehouse that aggregates internal and third‑party data sources.
What We’re Looking For

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field.

7+ years of relevant industry experience in data engineering or data infrastructure.

Knowledge of the following is also required: multi‑state orchestration frameworks such as Airflow; Jenkins; and Pachyderm.

Benefits and Compensation

Alchemy is committed to offering competitive compensation, including base salary as well as equity. Additionally, Alchemy offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as other benefits such as 401k and unlimited flexible time off. The base salary range for this position is estimated to be between $135,000 - $200,000 annually. Please note this range reflects base salary only, and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Your salary will be determined by various factors, including relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and other business needs.
