Job description

Salary:

Primary Responsibilities:

A silviculture technician provides support and assistance to the silviculture forester.

  • GIS collection, reporting and maintenance of land ownership data
  • Logging supervision, timber cruising and SFI/FSC compliance
  • Supervising and auditing silviculture activities (planting, site prep, timber stand improvement, etc.) for contract compliance
  • Attending police jury meetings and communicating outcomes

Job Experience:

Attention to detail, creative thinking, and communication skills are vital for success in this role.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Outstanding safety record in all aspects of previous employment
  • Willingness to obtain drone certification

Preferred:

  • Forestry-focused background experience
  • Forestry training through a vocational/technical program or equivalent experience
  • Experience in GIS, contractor supervision, implementing silvicultural prescriptions, and using map and GPS for timber inventory
  • Willingness to obtain a CDL to operate a lowboy truck and dozer
