Job description

* Flexible Location: Willing to consider Remote/Work at Home on the East Coast/Tri-State area for the right candidate.
ROLE SUMMARY: The CFO for Global Health Benefits (GHB) is the senior finance leader responsible for shaping and delivering the financial strategy across Cigna International Health GHB operations in the US and Europe.
As a core member of the GHB leadership team, this role provides strategic financial leadership to drive sustainable growth, strong financial performance, disciplined governance, and long-term value creation in a complex, highly regulated environment. The CFO acts as a forward-thinking financial and strategic business partner to the GHB CEO and senior leadership team, supporting the development of strategic and operating plans, advising on short- and long-term performance, and helping shape the future direction of the business.
The role leads a large, multi-layered, geographically dispersed finance organization and translates enterprise priorities, market dynamics, industry trends, and business objectives into actionable financial plans, controls, and performance frameworks that support profitable growth and operational excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Own the development and execution of the Business Finance strategy, ensuring alignment with Global Health Benefits, Cigna Healthcare International, and enterprise priorities.
  • Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the GHB CEO and leadership team, providing insight, challenge, and recommendations on short and long-term business performance, commercial priorities, investment decisions, and value creation opportunities.
  • Translate business objectives into medium- and long-term financial and operational plans, including annual operating plans, forecasts, long-range plans, and profit plans that reflect growth potential, market conditions, and enterprise expectations.
  • Lead end-to-end financial planning processes across revenue, medical costs, operating expenses, capital, cash flow, and profitability, ensuring plans are robust, actionable, and clearly linked to business strategy.
  • Analyze business performance and identify key drivers, risks, and opportunities, providing forward-looking insight to support executive decision-making and corrective action where required.
  • Oversee pricing and underwriting strategies to drive profitable business growth.
  • Drive financial discipline across direct and matrixed finance and business teams, establishing strong budgetary control frameworks, performance management routines, and KPIs aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Ensure financial integrity, reporting accuracy, governance, and compliance across US and European markets, including adherence to corporate policy, regulatory expectations, accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • Oversee risk management, valuation, business planning, profit testing, and related financial analysis to support disciplined decision-making and protection of company assets. Partner with Commercial, Clinical, Operations, and Functional leaders to drive performance outcomes, improve financial visibility, and embed accountability for delivery across the business.
  • Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing, globally distributed finance organization, building capability, succession strength, and followership across direct and indirect teams.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives, including data, digital, systems, reporting, process optimization, and operational change programs that improve efficiency, scalability, and decision support.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen finance processes, controls, operating rhythms, and stakeholder engagement.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Strong financial background with a minimum of 12+ years of business experience in the insurance industry, with strong experience across global or multi-market environments preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of management experience.
  • Previous experience in a regulated role preferred.
  • Must have comprehensive understanding and advanced knowledge with all phases of financial planning and management, budgeting, and forecasting. Strong background in pricing or underwriting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically from a value creation perspective using key financial insights, market trend analysis, and forward-looking judgement to shape and drive successful business strategy.
  • Ability to influence across all stakeholder groups, with advanced executive presence and the credibility to translate financial analysis, business performance indicators, and emerging market trends into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact with C-suite, Board, Investors, and outside regulators.
  • Results driven, quick learner, and able to establish credibility with varied audiences.
  • Ability to lead within a large matrix team in a global environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading change and transformation, preparing the finance function and broader business for future growth, operating model evolution, and changing market requirements.
  • Leads and motivates teams globally, building strong capability and future talent.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 203,600 - 339,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
