Job description

Our department's vision is to build a Data-Driven IONOS Group. Our mission is to connect AI and BI, evolve our platforms, and empower our customers. As the central provider of the BI platform for Corporate, CTO topics, and state-of-the-art AI solutions, we support data-driven decision-making all across the IONOS Group.

Currently, we are building our new cloud Big Data platform completely based on the IONOS cloud infrastructure. This means you will work with up-to-date, non-commercial technologies and have the unique opportunity to operate on our own internal cloud ecosystem, completely independent of the usual hyperscalers (AWS/GCP).

Tasks

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you won't just manage namespaces or isolated applications; you will have Full Ownership and end-to-end responsibility for the platform operational stability. Your main tasks will include:

  • Platform Operations & Ownership: Actively help shape, deploy, and maintain our cloud Big Data platform infrastructure, taking full responsibility for the operation of our technical data processes.
  • L2/L3 Application Support: Serve as the first point of contact for internal data engineering teams. You will troubleshoot process failures, investigate why a data pipeline failed, and optimize platform performance.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Discuss, gather basic requirements, and implement additional platform services in close coordination with internal stakeholders across 11 divisions.
  • Agile Collaboration: Participate actively in team processes, working within 2-week sprints where the functional team develops a common goal, working independently while keeping the team aligned .
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously and independently develop operational process definitions and platform optimization setups.
  • System Evolution: Take over system responsibilities with a clear growth path towards Product Ownership of the platform.
Qualifications

We are looking for a "Plug n' Play" Senior Engineer-someone who brings high technical expertise combined with the mindset of a curious explorer and a strong problem-solving attitude.

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of proven experience in Operations, System Administration, or infrastructure-focused DevOps roles.
  • Core Systems: Confident, high-level handling of Linux systems, environments, and server recovery processes.
  • CI/CD & IaC: Deep practical experience with infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation technologies, specifically ArgoCD and Terraform.
  • Containerization: Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies.
  • Open Source Stack: Familiarity or practical experience with tools such as Trino, Hive, Airflow, OpenShift, Prometheus, or Grafana is highly valued.
  • Networking: Practical experience with networking concepts and technologies.
  • Mindset: High degree of autonomy to take ownership of an issue and solve challenges independently, while remaining a supportive team player who shares knowledge.
  • Communication: Good English skills (written and spoken) to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and international teams.
Nice to have:
  • Practical experience with Python programming and related frameworks.
  • Linux Foundation certifications regarding Kubernetes (e.g., CKA/CKAD).
  • Experience with highly secure environments (e.g., handling sensitive data or regulated sectors).
We are NOT looking for (Exclusion Criteria):
  • Profiles with a pure Software Engineering focus (e.g., long-time software developers whose DevOps experience is limited to writing automation scripts for a dev team). We need an operations/infrastructure specialist.
  • Candidates with exclusive, closed experience in AWS only. We value the flexibility to understand alternative cloud-native architectures.
  • Candidates lacking a strong L2/L3 support mindset or motivation to directly solve user/colleague issues.
Benefits
  • Fixed salary and flexible benefits such as health insurance, daycare allowance, and meal vouchers.
  • Flexible working hours to organize your schedule according to your needs.
  • Ability to work hybrid in any of our offices located in Logrono, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, or Bilbao.
  • Invitation to our Arsys events, held twice a year, where we team build and throw a great party for our employees.
  • Personalized training in cutting-edge technologies, certifications, or any area that interests you.
  • Various employee discounts for activities and products.
  • We have a motivated, innovative team that is continuously learning. A culture where your opinion and initiative matter. We want to hear your ideas and see you put them into practice.

At Arsys we value diversity and welcome all applications regardless of, for example, gender, nationality, ethnic or social origin, religion, disability, age, as well as sexual orientation and identity, physical characteristics, marital status or any other irrelevant factor subject to applicable law.
