Salary: $11.50/hour
Job Description:
Perform duties to train and monitor participants with disabilities who have been placed in a job for assessment purposes, communicate with other team members regarding participants' skill levels and progress, document all contact for case files; contribute to the mission of Goodwill by portraying a positive image and maximizing the number of successful job placements of participants with disabilities, working within the limits of prescribed routines.
Responsibilities:
1. Assess required job duties for specific jobs in which participant is to be assigned to facilitate the employer training process.
2. Outline instructions in order of performance and in a format consistent with need of participants to serve as memory aids. After initial employer training, demonstrate the job skills to the participants, and assist participants with performance and comprehension of processes and performance requirements.
3. Review and assist participant with planning clothing, transportation, and communication requirements prior to job placement.
4. Observe the participant at the job site, watching for performance of duties as well as appearance, hygiene, interaction with others, and ability to follow instruction and accept direction from supervisors and co-workers.
5. Communicate with participant regarding any issues that require attention or correction. Encourage participant to communicate any anxiety, stress or frustration issues which may interfere with the success of the job placement, and work with the participant to resolve such issues.
6. Serve as the facilitator between the participant and the employer. Discuss and set up emotional strategies with the participant's supervisor and/or co-workers to minimize any future problems.
7. Call employers periodically to check on attendance and satisfaction with job performance.
8. Document contacts with participants and employers to case file. Document travel time and mileage. Prepare periodic reports as required.
9. Communicate with other team members to understand participant capabilities and requirements that may impact job performance.
10. Perform any range of department administrative assignments or special projects as requested.
OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.
2. Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
3. Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
4. Participate in any variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. One or two years of related work experience with disabled persons.
3. Ability to work a flexible schedule of day, evening and weekend hours.
4. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
5. Ability to maintain rapport with others both inside and outside the organization.
6. Familiar with disabled persons' needs, concerns and alternative problem solving.
7. Valid Florida driver's license with acceptable driving record for insurability under company insurance and ability to travel to outlying locations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Frequent travel to job sites of participants
2. May sit for prolonged period of time
3. Writing/conversing over the telephone or in person
4. Perform a variety of job functions specific to the job sites in order to train participant
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Use any range of hand tools or equipment involved in participants jobs, computer, usual peripherals and office software, and standard office equipment
