Job description

Our Client is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in O'Fallon, MO (Need Onsite day 1, hybrid 3 days from office).

 Our challenge

A PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) plays a critical role in managing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases within an organization's infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure PostgreSQL database servers on-premises.
  • Optimize database configuration settings for performance and reliability.
  • Monitor database performance and resource usage.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement performance tuning measures.
  • Use tools and scripts to analyze query performance and recommend optimizations.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Regularly review and update security policies and protocols.
  • Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with developers and application teams to design efficient database schemas.
  • Ensure normalization and indexing strategies are applied for optimal data retrieval.
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues and errors.
  • Provide support to application developers in optimizing database interactions.

Requirements:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Document changes made to the database environment and maintain an inventory of databases.
  • Develop scripts for automation of routine DBA tasks (e.g., backups, monitoring).
  • Recommending hardware upgrades or changes as necessary.
  • Work closely with development, network, and security teams to ensure database systems align with overall IT strategy.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding database status, issues, and plans.
  • Ensure databases comply with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
